The Golden, Sweet Silence

They say silence is golden. It sure is sweet - that much I know. It's what I am experiencing right now. Both boys are sleeping, and I hope that it lasts just a little longer. Sweet Connor slept for 9 hours last night, and I got 8 straight hours of sleep!! We thought Jake was a great sleeper, but he didn't sleep through the night until around 4 months. Connor will be 8 weeks old tomorrow, and this Mama could not be more thankful. Speaking of silence and sleep, I always tell people that I am very much a schedule person. It's because of that schedule that I am guaranteed a few hours in the afternoon and at night to be alone or spend time with Jason. It's what keeps me sane :)

Hangin in the Bumbo

Jason was home this weekend, and it was wonderful. I have said it before, but I really consider myself and our boys lucky to have him. He really enjoys spending time with us, and there is so much to be said for that. Anyhoo, we went to lunch on Saturday at the Crab Shack on Tybee. I thought that Jake would enjoy seeing the gators and birds. It was perfect. He loved it, and Connor slept the entire time. Jake cried when we had to leave the gators, but he perked up really quickly. After we ate, Jason and Jake were walking to see the birds and Jason was walking with a smile on his face. He commented that it was just really cool to be hanging out with Jake. How can you not love the man? Here are some pics from our time at the Crab Shack:

Our view  - I love living here!!!

Janet Kelton, this one's for you :)
We decided to head to church Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday morning. It's nice to have that option because Saturday afternoons surely are easier to make it to church instead of rushing on Sunday. Plus, we wanted a day to hang out at home. My sweet husband knew how much I wanted to work on my projects, so he told me to let him have the boys Sunday morning. I didn't ask twice!! I spent about 2 hours painting headboards, a small table, and priming dresser drawers. Then, that afternoon he and Jake headed to the playground for 2 hours and I painted some more while Connor napped in his stroller. Jake's furniture is being painted navy to match the color in his room. There will be beadboard on the bottom half and then the top is navy. Here are some before and after shots of the headboards (the afters still have wet paint) and the other is the dresser.

Everything is coming along. Bedding has been delivered, and now I am just hunting for finishing touches :) Jason headed back to work today, and the fairytale weekend ended. haha. Connor is so smiley now! All you have to do is talk to him and he just smiles like crazy. He has already figured out that his Mama is a big sucker. I walked out of the room to grab something earlier, and he started crying. I came back in and started talking to him. The crying immediately stopped, and I got this:

How can you not love this little face????
The evenings are so much more hectic without Jason home. Both boys get a bath, dinner has to be fixed, and the list goes on... In order to keep track of both boys, I feel like one gets a little ignored for a few minutes. I had cleaned up Jake and taken his clothes off for a bath when I peeked on Connor who was napping. Here's what happens when you turn your back on the Jakeman:

Hopefully, we will survive the week with Jason working. We are going to try and stay busy. Say a prayer for us :)
