A Thousand Pictures

These little people are busy. It is crazy how times sort of slips away while you are in the throws of the day to day raising of children. One day you are getting the oldest signed up for pre k, and the next thing you know it is already Halloween. You get a note home without a lot of warning that says the kids can dress as a book character on Halloween. Well, I wasn't running out to buy something, and since we didn't have any Spiderman books we pulled a costume together based on what we had on hand. Jake was the captain from Pirates Love Underpants:
I think we succeeded in the book character.
Connor had his Halloween program at school as well. It is always interesting to see how the group of 1-3 year olds are going to do.

I had two very excited older boys on Halloween night. Jake was the most polite little thing ever. He thanked everyone when he got candy and said Happy Halloween. Connor told everyone his mom painted his mustache, tried to grab more candy that what most people wanted to give, and then started yelling about going to the next house before we got off the porch of one house. The joys of two year olds. This year we had a Spiderman, a construction worker, and a recycled parrot costume.
The littlest brother wasn't so sure about this

The motley crew

This past weekend, we headed to north Georgia for a weekend. We packed a ton into a few days. First of all, we had an amazing view from our cabin.

It was gorgeous. The leaves still had some color!! When we talked about going to the mountains I looked for cabins in this area because I knew the area well, and I knew there was a ton of kid friendly stuff around there. We do have little kids, and I want to do things that they will have fun doing. We have all the time in the world to do grown up stuff, so we totally embraced the kid friendly aspect.

We hiked up to Anna Ruby Falls on a 32 degree morning. If you are in the area, this is an easy half mile walk up to the falls. The boys thought it was really cool to see a waterfall, and they had a good time playing tag with their Daddy on the platform.

We saw a gigantic miniature train village, had pastries, and walked around for a while before heading back to the cabin. Who remembers when playing in the leaves was this fun?

Now, trying to get a picture of all three together was like herding cats. See exhibits below:

Connor's faces crack me up. Jake keeps his smile and cheese face even if he isn't looking at the camera, and poor Tucker was cold and didn't like the leaves. Oh, well...

We set out Saturday on around 10am to start our fun day. We went mining for jewels. I think the poor man who ran the place thought we were insane when we showed up to do it. After breaking through the sheet of ice on the trough, we got started.

This was as close as Connor's hands ever got to the water. He mainly supervised his Daddy

Connor's loot
I wish I had had my camera while playing miniature golf, but wearing a 20+ lb baby on your back and actually playing putt-putt will put a damper on carrying around a giant camera bag. We had a great time. We rounded out the day by following signs to a petting zoo. Hey, why not? Jake loved the animals, Connor loved riding on the little tractor and sitting on the big one.
One of the only times Connor fed the animals

It was so nice to have time to just hang out away from the day to day life. The boys were all troopers while traveling, but Jake did say more than once that the drive was taking "FOREVER". Haha. We arrived back home to 66 degree weather and the promise of colder temps for the rest of the week. On our last night, I was snuggling with Jake before going to bed, and I asked him what his favorite part was. He looked at me and said, "spending time with you." Mine, too, sweet boy, mine, too...
