I know you have been on the edge of your seats to find out what we've been doing - haha. Well, let's see... In June, we visited a family down the road that raises abandoned baby deer and releases them. They had two babies, and one of them loved people. The boys thought it was pretty cool. As you can see in one of the pictures, Connor is trying to give the deer a big, open-mouthed kiss.

Gammie and Grandad came for the week of July 4th, and a good time was had by all. I was feeling better, so it was nice to actually cook meals again. The hubs and I even squeezed in a date night to Alligator Soul. We played, the guys golfed, it rained (a lot), and on the last night we ate dinner at Tybee then headed to the beach.
Even now, I can't form a full thought without sitting here for a few seconds. I have written down dates completely wrong on the calendar, made appointments for things and wrote another date, gotten ready for appts that didn't exist, and just plain forgot what I was doing on multiple occasions. Can you say pregnancy fog? I used to laugh when people talked about this. It is FOR.REAL.PEOPLE. I doubt it no more.
We are gearing up around here for a big pirate party for the Jakeman's 3rd birthday. This is the first time either of the boys has had a party. I am just not a first birthday kind of girl, and on Jake's second birthday, we took a quick trip to Atlanta instead of having a party. Well, this year I am pumped up. If we could all pray for no rain on August 17th, that would be helpful :)
The boys keep me on my toes these days. Jake is testing the waters a lot these days, but for the most party he is still my sweet boy. Every now and then, for no reason, he will turn around and say, "I love you to the moon and back, Mommy." In those moments, that boy could ask for anything he wanted and he would get it. He says the blessing at meals all by himself, is all about finding shapes right now, and he still loves to read. I think if I have to read Where the Wild Things Are one more time I might scream - haha. We did, thankfully, get some new books the other day.
Connor is trying to say all kinds of things now. The terrible two's are rearing their head. This is my child who is into EVERYTHING. Jake never really got into things. Connor will open every drawer, cabinet, and now door he can find. Nothing is safe. Gates must stay in place at all times with that one. I went outside to check on progress of the backyard. Connor was across the yard, and in the two seconds I turned around he had climbed on top of the firepit to stand. Seriously, people. He is fast. Thankfully, he managed not to tumble onto his head.
Speaking of the backyard, the renovation is almost complete. I will do a short post when that is done to share the pictures of the finished product. It is really cool, so far. Tomorrow should be the last workday. Of course, I thought today was the final workday, but they ran out of concrete and had a problem with the adapter for the gas line. I am keeping my fingers crossed that sometime this week, steaks and smores will be on the menu :) For now, the fog is increasing and I am not sure how much longer I will be able to form coherent thoughts. When I read this later, I might see that the coherent thoughts stopped being formed paragraphs ago...
