After a lot of searching, negotiating, etc. we are finally all moved into the new house. I have stated all along that my goal for the move was to move most our stuff and then on the day that the movers came, they could just put our furniture in place and it would look like we lived here. I HATE boxes everywhere. Plus, when you have a toddler running around and a new baby, it doesn't exactly lend a hand to organizing and putting things in place. We closed May 8th and moved in May 22nd, so I made about 1000 trips to and from the old house to the new house during that span. As things were brought over, they were put away. On the days that Jason was off, I came over after the kids went to bed to clean and organize things. I don't think Jason saw the method to my madness until the night we moved in. As we walked around the house, he said, "I can't believe that we just moved today. It looks like we have lived here a while." Mission accomplished. The next day, things got hung on the walls and BAM, we live here! Now we have things that we still want to do, but our days aren't having to be spent emptying boxes while juggling the boys.
Speaking of the boys, Connor turned 3 months old the day of the big move, and I will give myself a big pat on the back for remembering to break out the camera in the chaos of the day.
He is such a sweet little man, and he is so dang strong! He is already rolling over both ways now. He is about a month ahead of his big brother on that task. Those little legs are finally getting some rolls on them now :) Jake is adjusting quite well to the new house, and he still loves those golf clubs. He looks for them every morning when we get up. I was in the process of clothing him the other morning when he snatched them up.
My sister and my niece's daughter came for a visit after we got moved in. Originally, I had asked my sister, Sonia, to come for a visit because #1 I wanted her to visit, and #2 I knew that Jason was going back to work and didn't know if I would need help doing things around the house to get unpacked. We ended up being good on the unpacking, so we just got to hang out with the kiddos which was cool. My great-niece (yes, people I said MY great niece), Lorelei, is only 3 days older than Jake. Those 2 had a ball playing together! We loved having them here, and I was really sad to see them leave. I told someone that Sonia is probably the only person on Earth who could come and stay as long as she wanted and not drive me crazy :) The woman just knows me, and she knows when to help and when to just leave me alone. It probably comes from ALL the times she put up with me staying at her house when I was growing up!!
I think that poor Jake has finally accepted the fact that Lorelei and Son-Son are gone. He hasn't yelled, "Lo, whe ahh you" today, so I think that is a good sign. Lore had a little fever that turned into a runny nose and cough which Jake and I are now sharing. It was totally worth feeling like poo now to have company for those few days, though. Here are a few pics from when they were here. I wish I had taken the camera out more, and I also wish I could upload the video of Jake and Lorelei breaking it DOWN in the kitchen to Usher.
Upside down glasses are the hip new trend |
And with a pacifier and drool it totally makes you the coolest dude around |
Good grief this child looks just like her Mama did when she was little!!!! |

Sweet Lucy the kitty has been declawed and is adjusting quite well to life without claws. I guess this officially makes her our kitty :) Jake has followed her all over the house to hug and kiss her. The poor cat just takes it for the most part.
And last but certainly not least, I want to give a big shout out the hubs. He is officially board certified in Emergency Medicine. I think I made a joke on our first date about one of the residents not being a real doctor. He has never let me forget that, and last night he told me that now I would have to admit that he is finally a real doctor. He sure is, and I am proud of him. He has worked very hard, and it is nice to see him breathe a sigh of relief that all that is behind him.
It is almost 9, and I will say that I am exhausted. The past few weeks of being on an adrenaline high trying to get everything done have hit me, and I am so tired. Given that plus the cold that I acquired from a toddler, and my behind is kicked! A little outside porch sitting and a beer are to be had then I am off to bed!!! Goodnight, all...
