Happy Father's Day

It's been a busy week around here. Jason has been off most of the week, and it has been wonderful. Friday was his only shift, so thankfully I remembered it was Father's Day weekend, oh Thursday night. I don't know where my brain has been, but dates have NOT been my strong point lately. We managed to pick out 2 cards before the natives got restless in the store and had to head home. Most of the week was just for hanging out and piddly errands. I found a free music app on the iPod for Jake because the boy LOVES music. Here he is trying it out and trying to perfect his whistle. Haha.

Gotta get your mouth just right to whistle
On Friday, while Jason was at work we decided to kick up the progress around here a notch. The theme carried over into the weekend, and we have had a wonderful, busy weekend. After the boys went to bed Friday night, I decided that me and the guest room walls were going to become acquainted. I tackled the dreaded stencil project. Well, me and a few beers conquered the project. There is a top stencil to fill in the gaps, but I was so tired when I finished that I decided just to wait on that one. I can see it is going to be a pain in the backside, so if gets completed great, and if not, oh well... I HAVE to do some cleanup work, but here is the end result. I still have to pick up some nightstands, but progress is being made.

Saturday morning, Jason took care of the boys while I cleaned up this place and finished a few little projects. This sucker is a *Y&((!! to clean. I mean, seriously, it takes some time! Not that I am complaining because I do love to clean, so it all works out. I printed out a little freebie for the playroom wall.
Then, I tackled my little gallery wall project. My pictures have been stacked in the laundry room since we moved because I knew this would take me a bit to do, and there has always been other stuff to do. This was the result:
I walked back into the laundry room and I saw this scrolly thing that I have had forever. It got added to the mix:
Jason was outside putting together an early birthday present for the Jakeman. We got him a little trampoline for the backyard. We needed something to play with that we could just step outside and do versus walking to the playground. It never fails that we get there and Connor starts crying, the slide is too hot, Jake poops out and decides he doesn't REALLY want to play, etc. Here is the big boy trying out the new trampoline. Love the action shots! I can't believe my boy will be 2 in two months. Where does time go?

On Friday while J was at work, he texted me to ask if I could find a babysitter for Saturday night. Ummm, ok? Thankfully, our faithful babysitter was in town and could babysit last night. Jason and I went to Bonna Bella for dinner. Our realtor sent us there when we first came to Savannah to look at houses, and we loved it. It is definitely our kind of place. We sat out on the dock and watched the people dock their boats to come in to eat, had more than a few beers, and just talked. We didn't really talk about the kids - we just enjoyed each other's company like we did when we dated. It was the best date we have had in a long, long time. Totally casual, totally us and I loved it.

Today is Father's Day, and I would like to take a second to send a shout to my sweet husband. This man never complains about taking care of our children and me. He is the best man for me in the world and I am incredibly lucky to go through this journey called parenthood with him. Happy Father's Day also to my father-in-law, Marty, my brothers, Jason and Tim, and my brother-in-law, John. It is a special Father's Day for John because it is first Father's Day ever. He and Alison welcomed their first son into the world June 12th, and we are so happy for them.

We finally headed back to church this morning. Moving plus being sick for the past few Sundays hasn't been our friend. While we were getting ready, Jake played in our closet. He emerged carrying an old purse and wearing one of J's shoes. Totally stylin... Here are a few pics from today to wrap up the post.
