So, in case you missed the ultrasound pic on Facebook the other day, we are about 10 weeks preggers with kiddo #2. Many people already knew, and it was a relief to finally have the ultrasound and tell people. I have wondered MULTIPLE times if we have lost our minds having children so close together. I mean, we have a perfectly sweet child who sleeps 13 hours most nights!!!!! Do we really want to start over just now?? I guess at this point, questions come a little late ;)
We found out just before leaving Mississippi, and let me just say, the hormones kicked in pretty quickly. I think it was a combination of everything going on, but holy moley - all of a sudden there were waterworks for no reason at all. I would pack and cry, I would talk to friends and cry, I would get hungry and cry, etc. The crazy hormones and a voracious appetite, along with the feeling that my blood sugar was crashing if I didn't eat within minutes of realizing I was hungry, were all fo sho signs of pregnancy. The little test revealed a + sign, and I thought I would pass out.
Moving was a tiring process, and on the drive to GA, I had to throw up several times. It was quite the miserable drive. BUT - we made it, and although we had a busy week or so of unpacking, we settled in to our rental.
My sister, Sonia, my niece, Alanna, and her daughter, Lorelei, came to visit several weeks ago. Jake and Lorelei are only 3 days apart in age, so it was neat to see how they interacted. Of course, she treated Jake like he was a little baby. She is walking everywhere and is quite the grown up little girl. I took some pictures while they visited.
I hadn't been home in a while, so last weekend, I headed to Washington for the night. Let me say for the record, the roads in between Savannah and Washington are some of the most lonely roads in GA. The GPS did something crazy on the way back, and it said I should go straight at a point where I had come to a stop sign and the road turned right or left... Hmmm... Well, after making the call to turn right, I went through some truly county roads and managed to run over a snake in the process. While in Washington, I took some pictures of my great niece and nephew, Natalee and Landon. Yes, I did say GREAT niece and nephew. Poor Landon was terrified of the grasshoppers. I have said before that Washington, GA is the only place that I have ever seen these things - thank God. For several weeks during the summer the town is infested with them. Ugh! Here is and old picture that I had of the monster grasshoppers and ones of sweet Natalee and Landon. While Landon might have been terrified, Natalee was all about posing!
These things get huge and they hiss |
Poor Landon has a look of terror in all the pictures |
Here in a few weeks, Jake will be a year old. Right now, I have to fight back tears when I think of that, too. I'm telling you, these hormones are a bitch. He is the sweetest thing right now. He is waving to everyone, blowing kisses, and when he is playing in his room, he will crawl over, give me a big hug and put his head on my shoulder for a second then go back to play. I don't think he could be sweeter. I think that we are now sufficiently caught up. Oh yeah, Jason caught a baby snake in the house the other day. Dear Lord, I can live with a large king snake in the backyard, but I don't want to share my house with them.
CONGRATULATIONS! Second babies are AWESOME!
