Well, we made it. We are officially residents of Savannah, GA. Ah, that feels so good to say. We set out for our new home after closing for what turned out to be about a 12 hour trip. Jake required several stops to feed and Peanut got out once during the trip. Poor Lucy was drugged in her carrier for the trip, so she didn't really mind. Actually, Peanut was a little high for the first part of the trip since he decided to partake in Lucy's drugged cat food that morning :)
All in all, the move could not have been smoother. We had a wonderful mover who got to Savannah before us, and when we arrived at our rental house that night (which we had only seen online), he had unloaded quite a bit of our stuff. Jody Gay from Allstate Moving Company is great!!! He did the move for alot less than other quotes, and not a thing was damaged. Anyway, we inspected the new house, unpacked the baby and the animals, inflated the air mattress, and we crashed.
Jason and I had struck a deal that he would take care of Jake for several days while I unpacked and organized. Everything went pretty smoothly. In about 2 days, the house had all the necessary things unpacked and organized. Now, we are completely unpacked, the garage is organized, and things are hung on the walls. It's crazy how much more space we have and how we have already filled that space. Here's Jake's old room:
And here's the new room - pretty much the same configuration, but slightly (hehe) more room.Speaking of the Jakeman, he is growing like a little weed. The added crawling space this house has has allowed him to really explore. And, man, is it tiring chasing after the speed demon. But he is just so stinking cute!
We have been enjoying the neighborhood. It really is BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL. I cannot say enough about how pretty it is. The picture of the sunrise over the marsh was taken when Jake and I were on a morning walk. It is literally like 5 minutes from our house. This is the tower where I took the pic.
Pretty cool, huh? We haven't ventured out much other than to go to the store or the pool. Jake LOVES the pool, and it wears him out, so it is great for everyone!! We managed to make it to the pool with the big slide yesterday, and Jason enjoyed getting to slide with the 4 year olds.
People have asked me how the animals are adjusting to Savannah. Well, for those of you who know Peanut, you know that he is happy wherever his people are. AND - wherever there are no hardwood floors. That's right, our dog is paralyzed on hardwood floors. This house is 3000 sq ft of carpet and tile. He is in doggy heaven. Lucy lived outside in Mississippi, and we didn't just want to turn her out when we got here, so she lived in the bathroom for a few days. Then we let her outside on about Day 3. Well, she stayed around for a while, then she was gone. Jason, who I might remind you, yelled about me feeding that "damn cat" when she first appeared, went outside and called her every hour that day. He kept telling me that she wasn't coming back, and I kept telling him that she was. Well, at about 11pm, Jake woke up screaming, and I went to the couch to lie down with him for a second when I heard the "melodic" voice of our bobtail Siamese kitty. Since that occasion, Miss Lucy has been living the high life indoors, and she doesn't seem to mind at all. After all, isn't this a usual kitty position?
Our animals are a little bit rotten? What's it to ya?Anyway, all is well here. We are getting used to the wildlife here. And if you followed Facebook, you will know that we had Animal Kingdom in our backyard in Mississippi, but it is still cool to see the deer trotting along the golf courses or the little gator in the lagoon. Here is our backyard the other morning:
Jason broke down and bought a new TV when we moved. Our old TV was the subject of many jokes - us as well as anyone who saw it. Jason said that the Comcast guys were a little stunned when they showed up here and saw it :) It wasn't the best TV, but it worked just fine. Anyway, the new TV is quite the bomb. We got a new TV cabinet for it, and since it was all pulled out from the wall, that was the perfect time to get speakers, right? Sure, honey, sure. Here is the living room - complete with Jason's new baby.
Still a few things left to do, but you get the picture. Literally...I will leave you with a few pictures. One is of what we call the "Jakey shark", aka Jake in his shark towel after his bath. Seriously, how cute is he?
And the final picture, I have titled "Amelia Bedelia Plays Golf". I swear to God this woman was playing this morning, and I HAD to get my camera because her golf attire struck me as one of the oddest I have seen. What the hell????
Until next time...
So glad ya'll had a smooth move! It looks beautiful! Love the picture of Amelia Bedelia. :)
