Pirates and Poop

You know those days when you feel like Supermom? Well, this ain't one of them... Whew! The children are about to kill me. Actually, today is an improvement over yesterday, so I shouldn't complain. Yesterday, Connor didn't go for more than about 10 minutes without crying. I think his gums hurt. I felt bad for him, but let's face it - you can only listen to crying for so long before becoming aggravated. Jake whined about everything under the sun as well, so by the end of the day I needed a drink - or two, or five. Anyhoo, we made it and today has been better. I still just feel quite whipped from earlier. Let me just tell you about our day thus far.

I got up around 6:45 and fed Connor. Jake woke up around 7:45 or so. Usually, I try and shower before Jake gets up but that just didn't happen today. The boy LOVES to take a shower, so in an effort to keep tabs on him, he hopped in while I showered. He likes to dump water out of a cup and splash. Occasionally, he will ask for my little mesh sponge. He usually "cleans" the shower door with it. Well, today after he cleaned the shower door with it, I looked down to see that he had it hanging on a certain body part of his and was giggling.  Boys... He streaked around the bathroom naked while I dried off. Sometime in the streaking phase, he went into the closet and passed gas. Only it wasn't just gas because I found a little present on the floor. When I asked Jake about it, he just looked at it and said, "Ewww, yuck." Thank you for clearing THAT up, son. A prompt diapering was enacted.

For some reason, I decided to try on Jake's Halloween costume. He is going to be a pirate, and I wanted to see if it fit. It fit like a glove and someone didn't want to remove it. I finally got it off him by letting him keep the hat. We needed to go to Kroger and he didn't put up any resistance when I told him we had to go. He just kept on the hat and trotted out the door. Once in the car, he asked for his "suns" (sunglasses). So, off to Kroger we went and rode around in a little blue car cart clothed in pirate hat and sunglasses. He got many smiles and waves in his getup. One elderly lady told me that one day they do, in fact, grow up. I assured her that my husband would probably wear a pirate hat into Kroger as well. With that, she chucked and said, "You're right, most men would, dear."

After quite a quick and uneventful trip to Kroger, we arrived home and Jake announced that he had pooped. I am sorry for all the poop talk - see the theme of the day. I noticed that he was walking a little funny, and that, my friends, is never a good sign. Let's just say it required some changing of the shorts. All this before noon!

My little pirate did learn to ride his scooter that Jason and Sam gave him for his birthday. Check out the mad skills -

I really can't complain about anything. Believe me, I do fully understand this. There will be a time that happens way too soon that I will really miss these times - minus the poop. Connor is already 7 months old! How did that happen? The little man makes me laugh. Jake was always a rough and tumble kind of kid. He would bump his head and you would never know. Not sweet Connor. If he falls over, he cries like you just cut off his arm. If a stranger talks to him at the wrong moment, he wails. I got him one of those little inflatable tubs because he had outgrown the baby tub, but I hated to fill up the big tub. Well, this one has a monkey's face on the backrest. He turned around the other night and saw the monkey for the first time. After just about jumping out of the tub, that little face crumpled, and he lost it. Every single time he gets in the tub and looks at that darn monkey face, he cries... I will admit, it makes me laugh every single time. Yeah, yeah, I know - I am cruel - haha.

Check out these sweet pics of Connor at 7 months I shot the other day. And why is baby cellulite so darn cute? My behind surely isn't getting any praises of how cute it is, and it looks eerily similar...

Here's to hoping for a better afternoon!!!
