Just the other night when I went on a date with Jason, he commented that he was very surprised that I had not written about moving to Georgia on the blog. Honestly, I am still surprised that the hubs reads the blog. I mean, if he is home, I am talking his ears off since I am deprived of actual conversation most days. Let's face it - baby coos and dog barks do not a conversation make. Why he would actually want to read my rambling is beyond me. See, already rambling...
Anyway, truth be told, I am so excited about moving back to the "mother land" that I can't stand it. When Jason told me about the job opening at Memorial in Savannah, I didn't want to get excited. After all, he hadn't even made contact with the powers that be. Then, when he got the interview, I told myself to calm down because there were about 5 others interviewing. Not that I doubted that J couldn't charm the Savannah folks, but I just didn't want to jump the gun :) When he actually called to tell me the contract had been signed, I was driving through icy patches in the road to visit Macon while on the last trip home. And let me just say - I HATE snow. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I NEVER want to live somewhere that it does that on any kind of regular basis. Here in the South, a couple of inches will cripple the town for days, and it put some serious kinks into the last trip home. See, there I go again...
I heart Savannah. Not long after Jason and I started dating, we drove down for the day and hung out downtown. I remember that the Weiner Dog Nationals were taking place and there were daschunds everywhere! We spent the afternoon watching a sausage eating contest (haha) and walking around River Street. We also took a drive over to Tybee. It was there on that swing at the beach that I realized that I definitely wanted to be with Jason for all my days. It makes my heart happy to know that we are going full circle and ending up there to raise our own kiddos.
Now comes the house hunting and other stressors like getting our house show ready. Hopefully, little Lowe #2 will be cooking before we hit the road this summer. hehe. Yeah, yeah, maybe we are crazy, but I'm not getting any younger people. And no, there is NO news to report.
I am so happy to be near my family and friends from back home. I will be about 3 and a half hours from home, so a quick overnight trip is totally doable. Macon is only about 2 1/2 hours away. Hilton Head is about 30 minutes and one of my favorite cities, Charleston, is about 2 hours away. Packing up and leaving here will be sad, too. I have met some really cool people while in MS. All the people in Jason's residency class are going all over the country from Washington, Texas, Chicago, Utah, and alot of places in between. It will be sad to know that we will be so spread out over the country. It's been nice having friends here who are going through the same situation that you are. We have booked a cruise in March with about 6 other couples that are senior residents and spouses plus the Cajun, so it should be one fun trip! Now on the next chapter - and the sun, sand, and city where it hardly ever snows - Savannah, GA.

I am SO excited for you. Savannah is awesome and I know that you'll love every minute of living there. I can't wait for pictures of Jakey playing at the beach!
