Well, the holidays are officially over (unless you count New Year's Eve and Day). Once upon a time, I counted them, but now that I am married with a little baby, it's not really a big deal anymore. Christmas was really nice this year. We celebrated in Oklahoma with Jason's family and had a wonderful time. It was nice to see everyone, and we especially enjoyed staying with Alison and John. I think that I came back 10 lbs. heavier due to Alison's wonderful cooking, but I am officially refusing to get back on the scale until next week. I acquired LOTS of new recipes to try, and I am sure that you all will be hearing about them soon. Here are a few images of our visit to Oklahoma.
We traveled at night this time around. Jake is officially "on a schedule" now, and although it may vary a little day to day, we know what to expect at certain times. So, off we went to Oklahoma at night so that the baby could sleep. Although we were really tired the next day, it was worth it to have a baby who maintained some semblance of his normal schedule. We liked it so much that we decided to do it again on the way home. After getting home Jason and I wanted to crash, but it was time for the little man to be up for the day. We slept in shifts that day to play catch up. The poor little guy must have missed his jumper terribly because he jumped, and jumped, AND jumped for about 30 minutes when we got home and then again for another 40 minutes that night. It was pretty incredible.
We got lots of wonderful gifts this year, and I must mention Alison's contribution to the Lowe household because I will be blogging about this item tomorrow. She got me a baby food steamer/blender to make my own baby food along with a cookbook to use with it. (See tomorrow's post) As I spent the afternoon making baby food, I walked into the nursery and saw this site. I quickly ran out to grab the camera. I love my boys...
In other news, the newest member of the Lowe household has a name. "Outside kitty" is officially Lucy. After all, Lucy was a member of the Peanuts gang (only fitting), and as Jason pointed out - she was kind of bitchy. Well, Miss Lucy is quite fiesty with Peanut if he gets near her food or her new catnip toy. We traveled to the vet today to get her check-up, and she got a clean bill of health. No leukemia, no kitty HIV, no ear mites, no worms, NO NOTHING!!!! She has even been spayed. We knew that this cat was a pet and an inside cat at that, but she has been on our back deck for over a month. Clearly, she isn't trying to find her home, and we haven't seen any posters. Miss Lucy seems pretty happy with her new living arrangement. If only she could figure out how to get inside...
Is she Siamese? She looks it. Gotta love having a cat around, although you may not see your King snake once summer returns ;)
ReplyDeleteI thought about that, Julie! We only saw Curtis once last year though. And yes, she is a very sweet Siamese kitty -if we please :)
